Wedding RSVPs carry more weight than a casual party invite: caterers need a final count by a hard deadline, seating charts depend on who confirmed, and guests need to know exactly who's invited before they answer. Copy any of the wording below and swap in your details.

Traditional RSVP card wording

The classic printed card uses a blank line for the guest to fill in their own name, which is what the “M” at the start is for — it starts whatever title the guest writes (Mr., Mrs., Ms., Miss).

Digital invite or RSVP link wording

More couples are skipping the mailed card and pointing guests to a link instead, especially for a save-the-date or a wedding website. The wording just needs the same information a card carries: date, deadline, and where to respond.

Asking for a meal choice

When you RSVP, please select an entrée for each guest in your party (chicken, fish, or vegetarian) and note any allergies — we want to make sure everyone's taken care of.

Plus-one wording, without the awkwardness

The most common wedding RSVP friction is guests assuming a plus-one that wasn't offered. Naming exactly who's invited on the envelope or the RSVP page itself heads this off before it becomes a conversation.

This invitation is for [Guest Name] — please RSVP for yourself here: [your link]. We can't wait to celebrate with you!

The reminder, when the deadline is real

Wedding RSVP deadlines aren't soft — the caterer's final headcount is due whether or not everyone has answered, which makes naming the actual consequence the most effective reminder wording:

Mistakes to avoid

• Leaving the plus-one implicit. Name exactly who's invited so guests don't have to ask, or worse, assume.
• No hard deadline in the wording. “Please RSVP soon” gets answered on nobody's schedule but your own.
• Collecting meal choice separately from the RSVP. A second follow-up message for entrée picks is a second round of non-responses. Ask once, on the same link.
